Silo Structured Web Sites

First, let me say that this is not an affiliate advertisement - just an organizational method of web site building that has worked well for myself and others that I thought I would share with you.

By now you have probably heard of “silo structure” in terms of web site design. The term was popularized by an ebook written by Charles Heflin, of SEO2020 . I like the theory behind this method of site building as it appeals to my organized (often described as “anal”) nature. I believe that blogs can follow the same style too, although I personally tend to let my blogs take a little more informal style.

If you take the time to do in-depth keyword research and to map out your site’s organizational structure, you are sure to be rewarded with better search engine rankings than other sites with similar themes to yours.

Admittedly, the first few sites I built this way did take me a lot longer to put together than allotted in The Plan’s outline, but it was probably due to changing the site’s main theme after properly researching keywords. The results were worth the effort though, in terms of the time it took for me to get listed in the major search engines and appear quickly for the keywords I was after.

I am not going to explain in detail how this entire method works, since there are experts in this area and an abundance of material exists directly from the experts. If have not yet heard about this web site building and planning strategy, and you would like to get an understanding of the basic steps involved, there are two free reports available to everyone at Seo2020.com

There is a lot to be learned from these free reports, especially if you tend to be disorganized or need some direction with your site building plans. The great thing about this is that although there are a number very helpful paid services or products available to help you build sites using this method (ahem, some showing on this page), it is something you can also do entirely on your own, as I did for my first few sites.
