The following is a great article introducing those of you new to affiliate marketing, who may have heard the term "super affiliate" and are wondering what that's all about. This is for people who want to make affiliate marketing their full-time job, and not just a passing fancy…..

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super Affiliate! Corny, but "super affiliate" is the new buzzword for affiliates who are both ambitious and successful at affiliate marketing. There are wild claims online about affiliate marketing: Make Millions Overnight! Never Work Again! Unfortunately, these claims are usually false. To go from being a plain affiliate to super affiliate takes a lot of work. In short, you need to be an affiliate of steel.

The vast majority of affiliate marketing sites online are run by people who have no great interest in turning a huge profit. For example, you'll find thousands of blogs where people put up a few Amazon listings and/or Google links on the off chance that a passing browser will click on them. That's all well and good, but this is no way to make a dent in the affiliate marketing game. To be a super affiliate, you need to treat affiliate marketing as a job, not just something that you do on the side to put a couple of bucks in your pocket.

There is a misconception that affiliate marketing is not a real business. After all, the affiliate is not putting out a product. This is patently false. Even though an affiliate marketer is not manufacturing a product, he or she is still offering the product up for sale. An affiliate marketer still needs to be in charge of search engine optimization, custom content, quality web design, financial management, and everything else that goes into running a successful e-business. As with any business, an affiliate marketing plan is only as strong as the amount of work you put into it.

A super affiliate will be able to turn as hefty a profit as a standard business—several sales a day on a number of different fronts. Remember, successful affiliate marketers don't necessarily stop at one site. They set up a variety of affiliate sites with a good web address, quality web design, and lucrative affiliate marketing opportunities. Additionally, once you start selling at an accelerated rate, some affiliate programs will promote you from regular affiliate to super affiliate. If you start sending sales and traffic to a business, they will reward you with better terms.

This isn't an easy proposition, but it is possible. Make sure that an affiliate program has a corresponding super affiliate program in place—better terms for more sales. Even if they don't, an affiliate with good terms up front can really pay off if you're able to make a several sales a month. Affiliate programs with great terms are also sometimes referred to as super affiliates. Find these and you know you'll have a good marketing in place at the start.

First of all, what is an autoresponder? Well, an autoresponder is a tool that allows you to capture email addresses from your website, enabling you to send promotions to your subscribers via email virtually on auto-pilot.

Anyone running an online business can tell you that regular customer contact is one of the keys to success – after all, most people don’t bite on the first offering. Having an autoresponder makes email promotions a piece of cake. So how do you know which autoresponder to use?

Unless you like the trial and error method, which wastes valuable time and money, you could spend some time researching online, reading reviews, etc., before selecting one you think may do the job. I didn’t have the luxury of time, so I did the next best thing – contacted friends and business associates that I knew used an autoresponder. It did not take long to find out which autoresponders were trash and which one they liked best

Aweber was the universal favorite and highly recommended by everyone I polled. The reason? Their features, which include:

Some of the methods used today that are intended to increase search engine rankings may seem way too complicated to you, which may have caused you to avoid dealing with the issue all together. Trust me - this is something you should deal with today!

Where you rank in the search engines is essential to your success - if you don't care, then you are wasting your valuable time and efforts. A minimum of 85% of the internet population looking for goods and services online find websites through search engines - you know them - Google, Yahoo, Ask, and MSN. Your goal is to attract those customers, which can only be done if you achieve the highest ranking possible. Face it - the average browser will not make it past the first few pages of a query before moving on. The higher your page ranks, the more likely you are to have traffic directed to your website.

Now you don't have to be a technological genius to accomplish higher rankings, just a few simple adjustments may be all that is necessary to see improved rankings in just a short time.

One of the first items you should look at on your site is the title bar on your homepage. The title bar is that colored bar at the very top of the page.
Look at the words that appear there when you access your home page. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your homepage's title bar should consist of the most important keyword or phrase, along with your company name or website name.

Next, click on all your links/pages and examine the title bars on each page you access. The title bar on each single page should contain the most important keyword or phrase relevant to that particular page. Try keeping it to seven words or less in total. Also, avoid repeating keywords more than once in the title bars, and make sure that identical words are not next to each other.

Now you should scrutinize your content. Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content. You can have the best graphics in the world, but search engines aren't visual. The text on your site must contain the most important keywords targeted to your subject - these are words that potential customers will more than likely typing into search engines to find your site.

You should aim to have approximately 300 words on each page, but if this is does not work, due to your design or other reason, aim for at least 150 carefully chosen words. If you want to achieve a high ranking on search engines, targeted text is essential. However, the search engines must be able to read the text - in other words, the text must be in HTML and not graphic format.

To find out if your text is in HTML format, take your cursor and try to highlight a word or two. If you are able to do this, the text is HTML. If the text will not highlight, it is probably in graphic form. In this case, ask your webmaster to change the text into HTML format in order to increase your search engine rankings.

The next thing you need to review and implement if necessary is meta tags. Meta who? Yea, this may sound foreign, but it is really just simple code. There is controversy among some groups as to whether or not meta tags are the key to high search engine rankings, but it's still worth adding them in the event that a search engine uses meta tags in their ranking formula. And since it is so easy to do, it certainly cannot hurt.

To find out if your page is set up with meta tags, you must access the code. To do this, click the "view" button on the browser menu bar, and select "source" or "page source" depending on your browser. This will pull up a window revealing the underlying code that created the page. If there are meta tags, they usually appear near the top of the window. For example, a meta tag would read: meta name="keywords" content=. If you do not find code that reads like this, you can ask your webmaster to put them in, or view the instructions from online resources like AddMe, TheSiteWizard or Wordpress.

Finally, the issue of link popularity. This is a factor that is extremely important in terms of search engine rankings. Most search engines use link popularity in order to rank your website. Link popularity is based on the quality of the sites you have linked to from your links page. For example, type in "free link popularity check" in a search engine. This will give you access to programs that will then show you what sites are linked to your site. If you don't like the results, you may want to consider launching a link popularity campaign.

Essentially what this entails contacting quality sites and requesting that they exchange links with your site. Of course, this requires checking out the rankings of those websites. Linking to popular, quality sites not only boosts your search engine ranking, but it also directs more quality traffic to your website.

Search engine rankings are vital to a successful Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire an SEO (search engine optimization) expert, why not try taking some of the simple steps listed above, and see if you can boost your rankings on your own. Search through SEO forums and sites for additional tips, as there are new developments almost daily. You might pick up some easy, do-it-yourself ways to boost your rankings and drive traffic to your website.

Always keep in mind that the higher your search engine ranking, the more quality customers will be directed your way. Good luck!

Deciding to leave the 9 to 5 grind behind and work from home was a great personal choice, but it does not suit everyone. There are times when you have to bend the hours of your new career choice around the family schedule and that may or may not be suitable for everyone.

The Pros of working from home:

More time with your family; not having to get up at 5 or 6 a.m. everyday; there is less stress getting kids off to school when you don’t have to get ready for work too; no commuting stress; you don’t have to beg for time off to attend school meetings or doctor’s appointments; money is saved by not having to buy work clothes; no commute = gas $avings and less wear and tear on the car; no day care costs; and the list goes on.

The Cons of working from home:

More distractions, especially when everyone comes home, or off for the holidays; sometimes difficult to budget your time; others not handling the concept that you are actually working and are not free or available; possible income adjustments in the beginning; the temptation to overwork or in reverse, work less; many times you are 100% on your own with no one to lean on.

There are some people that have no problem working and being productive in their pajamas, while there are others that cannot function without the structure of a morning routine and at the office by 9 mentality. If you are set on giving the work from home routine a try, then prepare yourself accordingly. If you work better dressed for the part, then go ahead. Shower, dress and go to your “office” for work times.

Some possible solutions for making the transition go well include setting family rules and learning to budget your time wisely. Write out and post a schedule if that helps. Do not try to do everything in one day. If you can be more productive by sectioning parts of your work for certain times or days of the week, schedule yourself that way.

Family schedules will vary depending on the ages of your children and working schedule of your spouse, so you may have a varied schedule, but try to stick to a something similar on a daily basis. For example, if the kids are school aged, then try to do your most productive and demanding work during the hours they are gone from the house. If they are home, try to work during nap and quiet times.

Once everyone comes home for the day, it is time to take a break and enjoy time with them. If convenient and if you have any energy left, there’s always an hour or so you could squeeze in after they have gone off to bed.

Everyone’s home and family life are different so only you know what is best for your particular situation.

An example of my day –

Up around 7 a.m. to see my kids off to school (middle school age) and have a cup of coffee with my husband before he goes off to work. Throw a load of laundry in the washer and do a little clean-up where necessary. Between 8:30 and 9, the computer goes on and I go through my emails (try to limit email checks to twice a day, any more and it can become a time-waster).

Break-time is around noon, time for a stretch, so I usually grab the vacuum, fold the laundry, iron etc. and grab a quick snack before sitting down for the afternoon session. The day usually starts winding down around 5 when the kids start coming home (depending on time of year and sports practice or after school activity schedule). Time to go to the kitchen and start preparing dinner, chat with my daughters about their day, school happenings and keep an eye on their computer time at a desk just off the kitchen.

My husband usually comes home between 6:30 and 7pm, so dinner is shortly after, family time, homework, bed for the girls is around 10. Of course the times are not set in stone, some days can end extremely late if there was a late game or other event, late meeting, or something else, but that’s the basic idea. I am a bit of a night owl, so I’ll usually get back on the computer for a few hours.

Some days, there might be so much going on, that I would not be able to work effectively enough to get anything accomplished – so I don’t work that day. That is one of the perks of being able to work from home.

One of the most difficult, but important things you need to get through to others (children, family and friends etc) is that when you are working, you are really working. They often lose site of that because you are home. You can help with this by not being so available at all times. Resist the urge to answer your phone when a friend calls during working hours. If it is important, they will leave a message.

Set rules and boundaries that little ones will understand as well as some rules older children (and adults). It can be difficult in the beginning, but once everyone gets used to a constant set of rules and routines things will go very smoothly. It takes discipline on your part to make it a success.

Remember the reason you chose to work from home – it is great motivation!
